Beyond Stay Mahua Tola
Intimate Luxury Tented Camp at Tadoba
Six tented villas. One jungle. Zero pretence. Mahua Tola redefines the art of forest immersion — where every experience is private, every moment is considered, and the wilderness is your only neighbour.
Our Philosophy
Slow Travel. Deep Immersion. Absolute Privacy.
Beyond Stay Mahua Tola was conceived as the antithesis of the conventional resort. In a world clamouring for more — more rooms, more facilities, more guests — Mahua Tola chooses less. Deliberately, philosophically, beautifully less.
With only six tented villas on 12 acres of Tadoba's buffer forest, the camp can host a maximum of 16 guests at any time. This radical restraint is intentional. It means every safari is private. Every meal is tailored. Every guide interaction is personal. Every sunrise is yours alone to witness.
The mahua tree — after which this camp is named — is sacred in Vidarbha's tribal culture. Its flowers intoxicate, its fruit nourishes, and its shade offers shelter. It is the tree of life in these forests, just as Mahua Tola aspires to be the heartbeat of your journey into Tadoba's soul.
Accommodation
Your Private Jungle Sanctuary
Each tented villa is a world unto itself — a seamless blend of canvas luxury and forest authenticity, designed to dissolve boundaries between inside and outside.
The Mahua Tented Villa
Spread across 750 sq ft of elevated canvas and teakwood, each Mahua Villa is oriented to capture the most spectacular jungle views on the property. Floor-to-ceiling mesh panels replace traditional walls, allowing the forest breeze to flow through while keeping you in full visual contact with the wild.
A private wooden deck extends 200 sq ft beyond the canvas, furnished with deep plantation chairs and a day-bed — the ideal spot for afternoon leopard sightings. After dark, the same deck transforms with warm lantern light and a star-gazing telescope positioned for the clearest sky views.

Exclusive Experiences
Beyond the Ordinary. Into the Extraordinary.
Every experience at Mahua Tola is curated exclusively for you — never shared with other guests unless you choose it to be.
Private Safari — Your Vehicle, Your Zone
Your private Maruti Gypsy with a dedicated naturalist-driver and no other guests. You set the pace, choose the waterholes, and stay as long as you like at any sighting. Available twice daily — morning (5:30 AM) and evening (3 PM).
Midnight Star-Gazing Sessions
Tadoba's remoteness gifts it a sky free from light pollution. Each villa comes with a personal telescope and access to a trained astronomy guide on alternate evenings who narrates the mythology behind Vidarbha's constellation stories while identifying planets, nebulae, and meteor showers.
Guided Night Nature Walk
Led by our expert naturalist, explore the buffer zone after dark to encounter nocturnal wonders — the Indian nightjar's eye-shine, civets navigating tree branches, spotted owlet conversations, and the mystery of the jungle's night language. Red-light torches only — no disruption to wildlife.
Tribal Village Cultural Walk
A guided walk to the neighbouring Gond tribal hamlet where you'll learn the ancient relationship between Vidarbha's indigenous communities and the tiger. Witness traditional Gondi art, participate in a cooking demonstration, and understand how tribal wisdom shapes modern conservation.
Wildlife Photography Mentoring
Available exclusively for guests, our in-house wildlife photographer leads a dedicated photography safari with tips on ISO, shutter speed, tracking, and composition. Loan of telephoto lenses available. Post-safari editing session with Lightroom included for serious photographers.
Dawn Bird Walk & Chai Ritual
Rise at 5 AM for a guided bird walk through the mahua grove as Tadoba wakes up. The resident ornithologist has documented 195 species in the area. Return to your villa for a ritualistic masala chai prepared on a wood fire as the morning mist lifts off the forest floor.
Dining & Cuisine
The Table at Mahua Tola — Terroir of Vidarbha
Meals at Mahua Tola are never events on a schedule — they are conversations. Led by a chef trained in both international fine dining and traditional Vidarbha cookery, every meal draws from the same forest that frames your stay.
Breakfasts feature freshly pressed wild berry juices, eggs from our free-range hens, hand-ground spice pastes prepared at dawn, and breads from a stone oven. Lunches are light, vibrant, and Thai-garden-fresh. Dinners unfold beneath the mahua trees — multi-course affairs with wine pairings and live acoustic forest music.

Guest Stories
Voices from the Mahua Grove
"We chose Mahua Tola for our 15th anniversary and could not have made a wiser decision. The private safari on day two yielded a spectacular sighting of Tadoba's famous Maya tigress with her sub-adults. When we returned to camp, a private candlelit dinner awaited beneath the mahua trees. The entire team somehow made us feel like the only people in the universe."
"As a BBC documentary filmmaker, I've been to lodges across Africa and Asia. Mahua Tola's naturalist Ganesh is among the finest guides I have encountered anywhere in the world. His understanding of individual tiger behaviour and territory is encyclopaedic. We captured footage here that we couldn't get anywhere else in India."
"The star-gazing session was completely unexpected and utterly magical. Our 10-year-old son saw Saturn's rings through the telescope for the first time and wept with joy. Then the next morning saw a tiger and two cubs from 20 feet. That combination — science and wilderness — created a family memory nothing will ever erase."
